What’s the Real Problem With Pigeons? It’s the POOP!!

Pigeons are not necessarily the problem….the problem is actually what they leave behind! Even worse, without regular cleaning or rain, it starts to accumulate and, in larger quantities, can become a health and safety hazard.

The average pigeon will consume 30 grams of food and 30 ml of water daily. What goes in has to come out and therefore each pigeon will deposit roughly 60 grams of poop, daily. Assume for a minute that a facility has a small resident flock of 100 pigeons. The 60 grams represents 6 kilos a day or 4,828 pounds, annually. Of course, it does not all land in the same place, but you get the idea.

Not only is accumulated feces a health hazard, but it is also a mess to clean up. Fecal matter is caustic and will corrode most materials As with so many things, the best solution is prevention. A contraceptive program based on OvoControl should be part of your solution. By reducing the number of pigeons, there will be a proportional reduction in their poop.
